As you all know, the economy has not been very nice to events like ours the last few years. Companies are having a hard time justifying sponsorship dollars when they are having a hard time paying payroll and other necessary expenses. In the last few years we have went from a prize list of $19,250 to $12,000, which is primarily paid for by selling sponsorships to various companies for their marketing and advertising budgets. Some see it as community service as well, and support for a long time tradition in Quad City sports. However, the bottom line is that there is just not enough money going around to support all of the great activities that go on in the Quad Cities.
This is where we need your help. Consider becoming a 'Friend of the Quad Cities Criterium' as an individual sponsor. By using our donations button set up through Pay Pal, you can help preserve this sporting icon, and ensure that this race will live on for years to come, especially since we are gearing up for our 50th Anniversary in 2015. Your donations will help cover expenses not paid for by rider income, which is how all of the expenses are paid for the race. And, with gas prices rising at an alarming rate, hopefully it will not impact our over 650 racers that support our event.
Please consider a donation to help us out. What will you get? You will have your name listed as a supporter of our event on our Friends page on our website. Plus, during the staging of the Men's Feature event of the day, our announcer's Kenny Labbe and Kim West will read off everyone who helped make our event a success and give you public appreciation for your help. So if you are a retired racer or bicycle enthusiast, or a spectator that loves bicycle racing, or a community partner in business or service that would like to help but we did not solicit you for a sponsorship, here is your opportunity to let us know you care. Any amount you decide to give will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again for your support!!
