Village of East Davenport, Iowa, May 27, 2018-The Kwik Star Criterium will donate to the Quad Cities Veterans Outreach Center. Lola VanDeWalle, Founder will receive a donation from Kimberley Keil of Kwik Star at the Start/Finish line (Jersey Ridge Road and 11th Street) at approximately 4:25 PM on Memorial Day, May 28. Lola and Kimberley are available for interviews after the short ceremony.

"We are pleased to donate to Quad City Veterans Outreach on Memorial Day," said Quad Cities Bicycle le Club member John Harrington. "Our club has a history of donating to great charities, so with over 40 years of racing on Memorial Day we thought we'd give to Quad City Veterans Outreach. They are a non-n-profit 501c3 organization and do a fantastic job honoring our local veterans. We also encourage the Quad Cities bicycling community to consider donating at qcvetsoutreach.com."

"We at Kwik Star are delighted by the fact that more of our veterans will be provided much needed goods and services including food, employment assistance and haircuts. It only seems appropriate on a holiday dedicated to the remembrance of our nation's war dead that we thank those who offered the same sacrifice and yet are still with us today. Thank you to Quad City Veteran Outreach for making this possible" said Carl Rick, Public Relations Specialist and Third Generation Owner.

"We are excited to be a part of the Kwik Star Criterium. We thank them for their support of our Quad Cities Veterans Outreach Center and look forward to a great event" said Lola VanDeWalle, Founder, Quad Cities Veterans Outreach Center.

The Kwik Star Criterium was first run as the Moline Criterium in 1965 and has evolved over the years, eventually landing on Memorial Day in 1975. Since then it has joined with other area races to form the Iowa Memorial Weekend Cycling Classic.

Village of East Davenport, Iowa, May 26, 2018-The Kwik Star Criterium welcomes returning Pro Winners Jeannie Kuhajek (2017 Women’s Pro Winner), Vanessa Curtis (2016 Women’s Pro Winner), Josh Johnson (2015 and 2016 Men’s Pro Winner) and Daniel Holloway (2014 Men’s Pro Winner)

From Jeannie Kuhajek of Richmond, New Zealand, “As one of the longest running criteriums in the country, the Kwik Star Criterium is a pretty special race with an important history. It has special meaning to me personally: I've had some of my best, as well as some of my worst races here. I've supported several teammates to wins in previous years, and my own win last year was one of my most satisfying victories. I'm excited to return to the Kwik Star Criterium for 2018. The Village of East Davenport is incredibly welcoming to riders, and the race draws big crowds, making the racing super fun. The event is well organized and professionally run, and the race organizers are among those leading the way toward gender parity in cycling by offering equal prize money for the men's and women's pro races.”

From Vanessa Curtis of Iowa City, “The Kwik Star Criterium is one of my favorites. I love the course and the crowd. It’s so neat how the neighborhood embraces the race which creates a fantastic atmosphere.”

And from Josh Johnson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, "The Quad Cities Memorial Day Criterium has been one of my favorite races over the past few years (it doesn't hurt that I've had some success). They do a great job involving the local community - from having really engaged host families, to lining the course with people out watching and supporting the race. Always excited to come back and 2018 is no different! Look for the Bissell team out there come Monday."

And finally, from Daniel Holloway of Wichita Falls, Texas, “It’s good to be back in Iowa I've had great memories here and look forward to making more."

The Kwik Star Criterium was first run as the Moline Criterium in 1965 and has evolved over the years, eventually landing on Memorial Day in 1975. Since then it has joined with other area races to form the Iowa Memorial Weekend Cycling Classic.
